Jen was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Received her B.F.A in painting from Sonoma State University in Northern California and her M.F.A in studio art from Mills College in Oakland, CA. Since graduating from Mills, Jen has spent time as a K - 8th grade art teacher, was an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts and worked with galleries such as Branch Gallery in Durham, NC and Julie Baker Fine Art in Nevada City, CA. Jen has showed her paintings both nationally and internationally and was proudly the co-owner and the designer for a small paper goods business called Dog & Pony Show Designs.

Jenny Pennywood came to be in early 2008. Fine artist, Jen Garrido created and named her alter art persona Jenny Pennywood as an attempt to keep her fine art painting career and her graphic design, illustrative career separate. Over the last few years, Jenny Pennywood has created several prints and products, worked on the development and design of a book on traveling in Africa and now has branched out to do custom design of wedding and event paper goods and details. Jen and Jenny are very excited!
